Anchorage CHARR Membership offers
- Municipality of Anchorage Department of Health Certification Test For Food Worker - In collaboration with the Department of Health we are offering certification for the Anchorage area food workers test. With our guidance students will have a good understanding of safety and best practice sanitation standards in the restaurant and the hospitality industry. Our test includes best practices for employee health which is mandatory by the new food code regulation. Members receive a discounted price which includes materials, test and food handling card.
- Off the Road program this is an innovative program that keeps local streets much safer by providing free rides home for impaired drivers and their vehicles.
- Downtown Community Foot Patrol as a future benefit this program consists of two teams of two professional security guards patrolling the downtown streets on Friday and Saturday nights between 12:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. The program promotes safer streets for customers, employees, and the community.
- Community Outreach We are committed to helping our city become a safer community through efforts and involvement with community agencies which provide alcohol treatment, education and rehabilitation programs.
- Anchorage Police Department Sexual Assault Program In collaboration with the Anchorage Police Department, we will help focus on sexual assault, this effort will positively impact many of the community problems such as drug dealing, physical assaults, and public inebriation.
- Service with Style (SWS) is not like any other secret shoppers network; they give you an incredibly detailed report that is completely customized to fit your needs. You can use the report to train your staff, conduct compliance checks, cut cost and increase your sales.
- Security Training Anchorage CHARR and our members collaborate on the training of bar and nightclub security personnel so that all employ a high and uniform standard of service throughout the city for the protection of it's' citizens.
- Referrals We are developing an employee referral program. Where employers can call our office to find out if potential employees are eligible for rehire.
- Anchorage Responsible Beverage Retailers Association (ARBRA) We are proud to have collaboration with ARBRA and its members working hand-on-hand with the same goal "working closely with the Municipality of Anchorage to help with the homeless inebriate problem" in addressing societal problems of alcohol abuse.
- Civil Penalties Our office will assist members with procedures, and policies and will provide information about minor civil penalty law. We will compile information from the member about the minor case; we will prepare case folders; prepare letters; and court documents; we will also coordinate party notification for court appearance. Our office will attend court proceedings with the member at the request from the member. We will prepare reports and distribute results to the member and parties involve. Our office will follow Title 4 [04.16.060] and AMC [10.50.020] procedures on underage drinking and minor consumption 04.16.060.
- In-house Compliance Checks As part of being proactive and self policing in-house compliance checks gives the licensee an opportunity to correct mistakes before an ABC enforcement officer conducts a compliance check in your establishment. Evaluations are done anonymously, with our evaluators posing as regular customers (21 years of age and older). The evaluators then complete a brief summary of the visit; the summary will be mailed to the owner of the establishment advising the establishment if they passed or failed the compliance check.
Alaska State CHARR Membership offers
- TAP Discounts Training for Alcohol Professionals is an educational program developed by the licensed beverage industry and its partners to improve point-of-sale prevention efforts in the areas of underage purchases, serving of intoxicated customers, recognition of third-party sales and identification procedures in both alcohol and tobacco sales. Members receive a discount price on training.
- ServSafe Training Discounts Certified educators guide students to a good understanding of safety and best practice sanitation standards in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Members receive a discount price on full-service and limited training, as well as retail materials.
- National Restaurant Association Founded in 1919, the NRA is one of the largest leading business associations for the restaurant industry. In addition to national lobbying, the NRA also offers a multitude of training tools and information resources to help you with your business. When you join Alaska CHARR, you automatically become a member of the NRA.
- Discount Credit Card Processing Alaska CHARR has joined forces with Heartland Payment Services to offer you, our members, and the best possible credit card processing rates. Heartland promises full disclosure and committed customer service.
- Workers Compensation Profit-Sharing Program Alaska CHARR Members who qualify for workers compensation insurance through Republic Indemnity can join the CHARR Workers Comp program, which has been very successful in paying back dividends to our Members (up to 30%!), while still offering competitive insurance rates.
- Industry Representation & Lobbying In addition to the national lobbying protecting our industry through the American Beverage Licensees (more information on ABL below) and the NRA, as well as the superior watch-dog support offered by eight statewide Affiliates, Alaska CHARR employs a full-time lobbyist in Juneau working on our industry's behalf. Kim Hutchinson is one of the most-respected, longest-tenured lobbyists in Juneau, and we are proud to have him on our team.
- Toast Magazine Toast Magazine is the leading hospitality trade publication bringing you industry news and the distributor brand index. This publication would not be possible without the support of our members and affiliates, and we are pleased to be able to offer Toast free of charge to our industry members.
Both Alaska State CHARR and Anchorage CHARR hard with government officials, local representatives and regulatory agencies on regulations and legislation that will be favorable or harm the industry. Both associations offer membership to the American Beverage Licensees (ABL). The American Beverage Licensees (ABL) is an association representing licensees across the nation. ABL was created in 2002 after the merger of the National Association of Beverage Retailers (NABR) and the National Licensed Beverage Association (NLBA).
