Our mission is to serve and represent the hospitality industry within the Municipality of Anchorage. Collaborate with responsible members, stakeholders, and businesses as a vital part of the community.

Anchorage CHARR is a united financially sound organization committed to protect, foster, and grow the hospitality industry locally, which serves a strong membership and fosters a positive relationship with the Anchorage community.

Education Programs
- TAP Discounts - Training for Alcohol Professionals is an educational program developed by the Alaskan hospitality industry to educate servers and sellers about responsible alcohol sales in Alaska. The TAP program covers Alaska-specific state and local laws, responsible service techniques, how to identify intoxication and prevent drunkenness, checking identification and handling difficult situations. CHARR members receive discount prices on training.
- ServSafe Training Discounts - The ServSafe food safety certification program. Certified educators guide students to a good understanding of safety and best practice sanitation standards in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Members receive a discount price on full-service and limited training, as well as retail materials.
- Security Training - Anchorage CHARR and our members collaborate on the training of bar and nightclub security personnel so that all employ a high and uniform standard of service throughout the city for the protection of it's' citizens.
- Off the Road - Off the road is an innovative program that keeps local streets much safer by providing free rides home for impaired drivers 21 years of age and older and their vehicles. The Anchorage Cabaret, Hotel , Restaurant and Retailers Association ( Anchorage CHARR) sponsors the program, which is availabe to patrons of a participating licensed beverage premise in the Anchorage Bowl. Anchorage CHARR is a trade organization that represents more than 150 restaurants, hotels, bars, convenience stores and tourism-related businesses.
- Worker Card - Who needs a Worker card? Anyone who handles food for the public in the state of Alaska must obtain a Food Worker Card within 30 days of employment. This list includes servers, bartenders, bussers, cooks, prep-cooks, dishwashers, meat cutters, deli workers, and licensed daycare food workers. Anyone who works with unpackaged food or food contact surfaces is required to have a card. If you are unsure whether or not you or your employees need this card, call the MOA Health Department at 343-4200 if you are working in Anchorage or if you are working outside of Anchorage contact the Food Safety and Sanitation Program Office at 1-87-SAFE-FOOD.
